The destruction of the coral reef in Raja Ampat in recent times is a huge loss to Indonesia marine life. To prevent further disaster, and to restore the balance of the sea life ecosystem, which in the long run could affect human lives as well in this nation which consist of two third sea, PT. Karya Bahari Abadi creates a CSR initiative in a form of an event named A Thousand Maritime Exhibition which is held to commemorate National Maritime Day on 21st of August 2017. This Thousand Maritime Event Exhibition held at Pramuka Island on 25th – 26th 2017. Various activities such as free service, educational big screen movie, education games, coastal clean up were conducted. But the main event activity for this Thousand Maritime Exhibition was the plantation of the new coral reef in Pramuka Island conservation area for two days. Together with Indonesia Coral Reef Team (Tim Terumbu Karang Indonesia; TERANGI), Ladies Diver Foundation, Waverunner Community, and Thousand Island National Park officials, and local government officials, the planting of the new coral reef was a great success.
The exhibition officially opened by PT. Karya Bahari General Manager, Mr. Yoseph Tandian, continued by speeches from local village head from Panggang Island Mr. Yulihardi. More than 600 of the new coral reef successfully planted in the shape of PT. KBA logo formation at Pramuka Island. The village head of Panggang Island said: “You do not need to go far to help build Indonesia Maritime, in the front porch of Indonesia Capital Jakarta, exist the famous Thousand Island, by protecting the reef in the area, supporting the local people, would make this area as the leading marine tourism”.
PT. Karya Bahari Abadi will continue and increase Corporate Social Responsibility activities which have a direct impact on the local community, especially for the people a long the shore line across Indonesia. This CSR is fit to our corporate motto: “The Sea Smile, is Indonesia Smile”.
